Tension continues to mount between the European Union and Poland, which challenges the primacy of European law over its national law. The President of the European Commission, Ursula Von der Leyen, has promised “to act against Warsaw”.

The conflict escalated in early October when the Polish constitutional court declared the law of his country superior to European law. Warsaw is under threat from Brussels if it does not change its position.
