Poitevins Emmanuel Lebesson and Jia Nan Yuan European table tennis champions

They had finished the Tokyo Olympics fourth, at the foot of the podium. Four years later, they are European table tennis champions: Emmanuel Lebesson from Niort and Poitiers TTACC 86 member Jia Nan Yuan won gold at the European Multisport Championships in Munich. This Monday, August 15, they have won the mixed doubles final in 3 sets to 1 (8-11, 11-6, 11-5, 11-9) against Romanians Ovidiu Ionescu and Bernadette Szocs.

“I still can’t believe it”, said Emmanuel Lebesson at the microphone a few minutes after the victory, without failing to thank “the whole team” who accompanied him, with Jia Nan Yuan. The French pair now have the 2024 Olympics in mind.
