Pointe-aux-Trembles | Fire in an apartment building

A fire broke out in an apartment building in the Pointe-aux-Trembles sector on Sunday morning, reports the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM). The building sustained significant damage, but no one was injured.

“Since the source of this fire remains unknown, the investigation was transferred to the arson section of the SPVM,” said Caroline Chèvrefils, spokesperson for the SPVM.

911 received a call shortly before 8 a.m. regarding a fire raging in an eight-unit building located on Dubé Avenue, near Dorchester Street.

The firefighters brought the fire under control when the SPVM agents arrived. The building was evacuated in a preventive manner.

According to the first information disclosed by the police force, the fire started in a dwelling located in the basement.

An investigation is underway to shed light on the circumstances of this event.
