The leader of the Conservative Party of Canada Pierre Poilievre continues his slow rise in the voting intentions of Quebecers, but continues to scare some voters.
Pierre Poilievre obtains 26% of voting intentions in the province, according to a recent Léger-Québécor poll published Wednesday evening. These results put him tied with the leader of the Liberal Party of Canada, Justin Trudeau, who is ahead of the Conservative leader in all other provinces.
However, Quebecers remain skeptical of Pierre Poilievre, according to the survey. No less than 44% of them fear seeing the Conservative leader come to power, while 34% fear a fourth term for Justin Trudeau.
Nearly half of Quebecers also say that the leader of the Conservative Party would be a “similar” (36%) or “worse” (14%) head of government than former American President Donald Trump.
In La Belle Province, it is the Bloc Québécois which dominates the electorate, with 31% of voting intentions. However, this is a drop of 4 percentage points compared to the month of April, according to the Montreal Journal.
Léger and Quebecor specify that this survey was conducted among 1,015 Quebecers aged 18 or over. For comparison, the maximum margin of error for a sample of 1031 respondents is ± 3.05%, 19 times out of 20.
