Podcasts | A crossing of the century and of Tremblay’s work

The first part of the podcast series The crossing of the centurybased on the romantic and theatrical work of Michel Tremblay, has been available since January 2 on the Radio-Canada OHdio platform.


This digital series, adapted and directed by Alice Ronfard, will include a total of six parts and 40 episodes. The first three parts will be online in January, and the other three, next spring.

By recounting the fate of Victoire, Albertine and Thérèse, among other famous characters by Michel Tremblay, The Crossing of the Century is an invitation to travel through the history of Quebec. In a society crushed by poverty and religion, a family saga takes shape with three generations of strong and resilient women who have built the Quebec of today.

“It’s a legacy that I receive and that I wish to pass on in my turn », says Alice Ronfard in the press release. The late theater man André Brassard collaborated with Ronfard on the project as a consultant and ideator, as well as 18 performers, including Alex Bergeron, Dany Boudreault and Violette Chauveau. This series is produced as part of Théâtre Espace Libre’s digital season.
