Agnès Vahramian has been France Télévisions’ permanent correspondent in the Middle East for two years. At the microphone of François Beaudonnet for “le counter de l’info”, she reveals her working method for covering the war between Israel and Hamas, since October 7, 2023.
Agnès Vahramian admits “to still being inside” after watching the videos and photos of the massacres perpetrated by Hamas on October 7. It was the Israeli army that showed these documents to journalists around the world, so that they could understand the level of horror of the acts that were committed then.
“As a Christian, I feel in my place”
The journalist, who also covered the war in Ukraine, believes that the recent clashes between Hamas and Israel are on a completely different scale, compared to what has been happening in the Middle East since the post-war period. Christian and of Armenian origin, the permanent correspondent for France Télévisions in the Middle East, feels in her place to cover this conflict. Because she believes that the Christians have always been bridge builders and therefore she does not fear either of the two warring parties.

About the podcast: “At the info counter” is the first native (audio) podcast from France Télévisions. In the form of a journalistic interview, an actor who produces public service television news – a major reporter, a cameraman, a presenter – comes to speak, tell, reveal the way in which he works. In the soundscape of a café counter, he confides his doubts, his joys, but also his fears when he is in the field or in the studio. Since May 2021, the podcast “At the Info Counter” has also received journalists from Radio France (France Inter, France Info, France Culture).
The series is produced by François Beaudonnet, editorialist on franceinfo (channel 27), senior reporter at France 2 and columnist in the program “Nous, les Européens” on France 3. Former correspondent in Rome and Brussels, he started on radio where he presented the 1 p.m. news on France Inter.
