Joe Tekori, who has been playing the last few weeks of competition after a superb career in France that lasted 15 years, has been very frustrated lately. He has only started once this season and has played a total of 190 minutes in the Top 14. The second line does not hide the fact that the situation irritates him a little.
Tekori: “It sucks”
Joe Tekori went to a press conference this Friday before the MHR reception on Sunday at Ernest-Wallon. And he didn’t mince his words: “If I have a chance to play I would give everything. Against USAP it was the first game where I played at least 40 minutes. The other week I played 10 minutes, then 15 minutes. It’s not me I like to play rugby myself. Coming home for 10 minutes sucks.”
Joe Tekori announced several weeks ago that he would end his career at the end of the season.“I’m going to focus on my family and move on. I will stay with my family for a year in France I think. Maybe to bring my experience a little with young people and then I go back to my island in New Zealand.
Despite some proposals from other clubs, the former player of Castres Olympique did not see himself taking up one last challenge: “Four or five Top 14 clubs have called me asking why I’m not playing. I said it’s not me who decides. There’s no problem, I’m staying positive but it’s the staff who choose. I prefer to stop. It’s not me, being a substitute to play 10 minutes.”
