Player complaints | MLB will modify new Nike uniforms

Major League Baseball plans to make changes to Nike’s new uniforms for the start of the 2025 season after complaints from players and fans, according to ESPN.

These changes will include the return of larger letters to identify players; a standardization of gray uniforms, some shirts of which are not the same shade as the pants; as well as a correction to the fabric of pants, which become transparent when players sweat.

The players were warned by the Players’ Association (MLBPA) in a memo sent to them on Sunday.

According to ESPN, the memo clearly blamed Nike for its new uniforms called Vapor Premier. The union declined to comment to The Associated Press on the nature of its memo.

The MLBPA said Fanatics, which manufactures the Nike-designed uniforms, was not to blame. The memo notes that Fanatics “recognized the importance of soliciting player feedback.” The union says it hopes Nike will adopt this approach in the future.
