Thanks to several platforms, it is possible to buy fruits and vegetables from vegetable gardens belonging to individuals, who would like to sell the surplus of their harvests. The 13 Hours is interested in it in its column “An idea for France” with the journalist Valérie Heurtel, Monday, October 10.

Corine Bourdoncle, creator of the Leaf application, has one goal: “Connect people who have a surplus of crops from the vegetable garden with people who are looking for these good local products.” In his garden, in Toulouse (Haute-Garonne), his brother-in-law, Claude Bourdoncle, has about twenty fruit trees. This summer, he has already made 150 kilos of jam. But now he is invaded by all his apples. “As there are only two of us (…), we have a lot of fruit, and we can’t eat it all”he confides.

Mallory Cianferani, who lives in the same neighborhood, is just looking for something to make compotes for her children. So she uses the Leaf mobile application to go and buy Claude’s apples Bourdoncle, which sells its fruit surpluses and freely sets its prices. This application was therefore launched four months ago by the latter’s sister-in-law, Corine Bourdoncle. This farmer’s daughter regretted not finding the same exchanges in town as in the countryside. Leaf, which has already brought together 42,000 users, therefore makes it possible to create social ties between buyers and sellers of fruit and vegetables.

Other platforms offer the same type of formula. “There is ‘Le Potager d’à Côté’, ‘Le Potiron’, ‘Fruit and Food’… And all of this also gives access to rare varieties, which grow in gardens, but which we not always found in stores”explains journalist Valérie Heurtel, present on the set of 13 Hours, Monday, October 10.
