Plateau-Mont-Royal | Woman stabbed, ex-spouse arrested

A 47-year-old woman was stabbed to death in an apartment in Plateau-Mont-Royal, Montreal, on Sunday. After fleeing the police for several hours, her ex-spouse and alleged attacker was finally arrested in the early evening.

The events occurred around 3:30 p.m. in an apartment on rue Le Jeune, near avenue Laurier.

Upon arriving at the scene, officers found the victim outside the building. She was then injured in the upper body, but conscious. We don’t fear for our life.

As for the suspect, a 51-year-old man, he was no longer there. The police finally managed to locate him shortly after 6 p.m. in the borough of Saint-Laurent. The latter is expected to appear on Monday and will remain detained until then.

The Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM) confirmed in the evening that the victim and the suspect were ex-spouses.

The scene was protected to allow investigators to do their job.
