The Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM) has opened an investigation into two suspicious fires that occurred a few minutes apart on the Plateau Mont-Royal on Saturday evening.

Around 10:30 p.m., firefighters were called to the scene of a first fire that had started in a garbage can at the intersection of rue Villeneuve and avenue du Parc.

Shortly after, another fire, this one having started in a garage at the back of a building on avenue du Parc, not far from boulevard Saint-Joseph, also required their intervention.

“The garage burned inside, a few planks of wood and tires caught fire, but there is no risk of the structure collapsing,” said SPVM spokesperson Jean-Pierre Brabant. , sunday.

Although no suspicious items have yet been found at the scene of the two incidents, they are considered suspicious given that they occurred within minutes of each other.

SPVM investigators went on site to collect clues, says Jean-Pierre Brabant.
