Pizza boxes, individual sauce pods… Several packaging used in catering will be banned.
In Strasbourg (Bas-Rhin), a pizza maker used cardboard boxes for his take-out pizzas, but they contain eternal pollutants harmful to health, which must disappear by 2026. Another restaurateur has anticipated and no longer offers mustard or ketchup pods. They are replaced by bottles, because pods at the table will no longer be authorized. France is ahead in reducing packaging in catering.
The European agreement provides for a reduction in packaging waste
“We have always managed to adapt (…) for pizza boxes, it is just one of the products which makes up the cardboard which poses a problem, we are very hopeful that before 2030 everything will be operational”, says Christophe Weber, director of Umih Alsace. The European agreement is not limited to its bans on catering. It provides for a global and quantified reduction in packaging waste.
