Planes singer Mistaken for Stars dies

Gared O’Donnell, frontman of post-harcore American group Planes Mistaken for Stars, died Wednesday of esophageal cancer.

The singer and guitarist was 44 years old. In August 2020, he revealed that he had been diagnosed with stage 3 esophageal cancer. An inoperable cancer according to the group manager.

News of Gared O’Donnell’s passing was confirmed by the group on Instagram.

Originally from Illinois, the group Planes Mistaken for Planes have released four albums. The latest was Prey, released in 2016. The band revealed that at the time of his death, O’Donnell was working on solo material.
