Plane crashed on Route 117

A small plane crashed, causing two minor injuries, in Rouyn-Noranda on Saturday afternoon.

Around 5:15 p.m., a small plane crashed on Route 117 at kilometer 594 in Rouyn-Noranda, in Abitibi-Témiscamingue.

Two men, one in his twenties and the other in his thirties, were on board. They were transported to a hospital for minor injuries.

Route 117 was completely closed until 7:45 p.m., said Hélène Saint-Pierre, public relations officer for the Sûreté du Québec. It was later reopened to alternate traffic.

An investigation will take place to determine the circumstances of the accident, but a mechanical problem could be the cause.
