Due to COVID-19, the third season of Plan B, which was to stage Pier-Luc Funk in the role of a thug, could not be shot. By way of … plan B, Jacques Drolet and Jean-François Asselin have concocted an intrigue carried on the muscular shoulders of Anne-Élisabeth Bossé, who trained for a few months to obtain the silhouette of Mylène, a 39-year-old policewoman in love of justice grappling with its own demons.
In this new season, divided into six episodes of the series produced by KOTV, the authors highlight a subject that disturbs them as human beings and challenges them as men: violence against women and children.
“We had not seen the series of feminicides coming that followed during the confinement and which disturbed us a lot, and that made the subject extremely delicate, it was so painful and unbearable and, above all, for Jean-François and me , incomprehensible. So we started with a character who seeks to understand this violence and will discover that behind all drama, there are human beings, and that for the vortex of violence to stop, you have to dive.
It is therefore a season which addresses anger head-on and which questions us about the possibility of redemption, ”explained Jacques Drolet during a virtual press briefing on Wednesday, just after the presentation of the first three episodes, solid, panting and overwhelming.
“What is important is that we never want to make moralistic stories, but always expose our questioning and enter into the humanity of the characters,” continued Jean-François Asselin, also director of the series. What’s different about this season is that this is the first time a character has used the power of [l’agence] Plan B to save others, to change society. We found it interesting to portray an angry female character who will enter into this affair with all her heart. “
Serve and protect women
During a patrol with her new partner, Patrick (Patrick Emmanuel Abellard), Mylène finds near a young man lying in his blood – a nod to a future season of Plan B – a telephone from which she hears the recorded message from the Plan B agency. Later, devastated by a family tragedy, she calls on this mysterious agency in order to go back in time and thus avoid tragedy.
While she wants to protect Caroline (Mélanie Pilon), the woman she could not save, by removing her from her husband Bruno (Vincent Leclerc), Mylène comes to commit reprehensible acts. Sinking deeper and deeper into crime, she finds that she cannot save all women.
As for Florence, star of the radio wanting to prevent the suicide of her daughter played by Sophie Lorain in the second season of Plan B, work takes so much place in Mylène’s life that it risks ruining her relations with her family and, above all, with her ex, Guillaume (Pierre-Luc Brillant), and the latter’s son, Justin (Thomas Haché ).
“In Florence’s case, it was female guilt that made her believe that her career prevented her from taking care of her family – and we don’t think so at all in passing,” Jean-François Asselin recalled. In the case of Mylène, who has the desire to change the world, the questioning is whether she has chosen the right job and not whether she has to give up her job to take care of others. “
“In the second season, work was an important point, but the questioning was more about how to reconcile work and family; the sixth episode came precisely with this questioning, that it is no longer just an individual woman’s choice in relation to work, but a collective choice if we want to have children, ”added Jacques Drolet.
