Interrogation “background”
The 55-year-old comedian is still under investigation for “homicide and aggravated involuntary injuries”for driving on February 10, 2023 under the influence of drugs and hitting a car on a road in Seine-et-Marne (Île-de-France), causing three serious injuries, including a pregnant woman who lost her child… This week, after the publication of a report on the legal status of the baby who died in the accident, Pierre Palmade was heard by the investigating judge in charge of his case.
THE Parisian reports that he was “accompanied by his lawyers”and that he answered questions “background” on the “facts in detail” and his “alleged involvement” in the accident. Pierre Palmade would have left the courthouse at the end of the afternoon, this Tuesday. And this could be the last step before the end of the investigation, explain our colleagues, who are leaning towards a trial in spring 2024.
Unless there is a request for a second opinion from the baby’s family, Pierre Palmade will be tried there for acts of “aggravated unintentional injuries“, an offense punishable by 5 to 7 years in prison. His sentence will be doubled if the repeat offense is upheld.
There should be no second opinion
For the moment, the family’s lawyer, Me Mourad Battikh, has suggested that he should not request a second opinion because “the result will be the same”as he explained on BFMTVSeptember 22, 2023. At the microphone of Apolline de Malherbe, he lamented: “In this expertise, they will explain to us that he is not alive because he came out dead, in the legal sense of the term. And at the same time, that he is not alive because of the direct consequences of the accident. You see the absurdity.”
