Place for readers | Paul Arcand in your daily life

THE morning man Paul Arcand turns off his microphone Since you have to get up this Friday, in a final broadcast where his collaborators and notable personalities from the news will come to greet him. To mark the departure of the host who remained at the top of the listening polls, we asked our readers to describe the place he occupied in their daily lives.

“I still have difficulty imagining my mornings without Paul Arcand. My Paul Arcand. For years, my morning routine has been organized around the 7:02 a.m. political news, the 7:15 a.m. economic news, the 7:25 a.m. interview. The kids know that when mom has her headphones in her ears while preparing lunch, she listens to her Paul. Through the madness of the mornings, these moments with Paul and his entire team are as ingrained in my routine as my first coffee is. I’ll miss him. Really. »

“Living in Bas-Saint-Laurent, I didn’t know his show. A few years ago, I managed to find some catch-up interviews and became a morning listener. During the pandemic, the interviews with the specialists were clear, educational, balanced. In short, a place of information. Often, in the evening, I skim over the interviews for catch-up, I know that I will learn about the war in Ukraine, that in Palestine, political details and, sometimes, a funny exchange with an artist. I wish him a great quasi-retirement and I will be interested in his future projects. »

“For 27 years, Paul Arcand has accompanied our couple every weekday morning, from CKAC to 98.5 FM, in Brossard, Florida or while traveling. No question of missing, over time, the enigma of the day, Jean Lapierre, Bernard Drainville (best in time), Pierre-Yves, the 7:20 a.m. interviews, the madness of Friday and so many delicious moments as memorable. […] Already nicknamed “the conscience of Quebec” by some, Paul Arcand was the most notable French radio personality in Montreal and the region. From summer to summer, we impatiently awaited his return at the start of the school year. »

“Bus driver at the Longueuil transport network for 35 years, retired for several years, early riser like Mr. Arcand (around 3:30 a.m.). Departure from the garage to position myself for my first departure of the day, my portable battery radio attached to my side window with suction cups, I was ready for the passengers to board and listen to my favorite show, from the beginning at the end. A big thank you, Mr. Arcand, for all these years of supporting my work which, sometimes, was not always pleasant (snowstorm, traffic in the reserved lane, passengers sometimes not very nice, drivers sometimes aggressive). Your daily support allowed me to experience these situations more easily. Your professionalism, discipline and sense of humor have stood me in good stead in certain situations and helped me keep my cool and in control of the situation. »

“We listen daily Since you have to get up since its very beginnings! I particularly remember the first show where Serge Fiori came to present his theme for the show. But our favorite segment was Jean Lapierre’s famous political column that we listened to religiously at 7 a.m. The synergy between Paul Arcand and Jean Lapierre was so great! Precisely, another memorable and touching moment: the announcement of the death of Jean Lapierre by Paul and the special program which followed. I still get goosebumps remembering this terrible moment, which affected all of Quebec. »

“From an inveterate early morning sleeper, I gradually became a listener unable to go back to sleep after 6 a.m., 6:30 a.m. because I wanted to listen to Paul Arcand’s fiery comments on 98.5, until my arrival at work… Words that made me laugh, think, enlightened me, informed me and above all completely woke me up. A diverse, lively, intelligent show. Thank you, Paul Arcand, for impeccable work, and good luck for the future. »
