The three American groups who made the heyday of alternative rock and indie music in the 1990s begin a North American tour on May 31 in South Carolina. They will be at Place Bell in Laval on June 9.
Pixies, led by singer and guitarist Black Francis, enjoyed a prosperous period between 1987 and 1993, releasing five albums in quick succession, including Surfer Rosa (gold certified) and Doolittle (platinum certified). But the group broke up in 1993, before reforming in 2004 and continuing its journey.
Modest Mouse got noticed a little later, in 1997, with his album The Lonesome Crowded West. In the 2000s, the group released three albums: The Moon & Antarctica, Good News for People Who Love Bad News And We Were Dead Before the Ship Even Sank. Their latest album The Golden Casket was released in 2021. Singer and guitarist Isaac Brock is the only founding member still active.
As for Cat Power, real name Chan Marshall, the American singer-songwriter has recorded a dozen albums since the mid-1990s. Last year, she released a long play in tribute to Bob Dylan .
