(Pittsburgh) Cam Sutton will get a second chance in the NFL, thanks to the Pittsburgh Steelers.
The Pennsylvania team signed the defensive back to a one-year contract on Wednesday, more than two months after he was released by the Detroit Lions due to an alleged case of domestic violence in Florida.
Sutton eventually turned himself in to authorities and underwent a pretrial diversion program, after the charges were reduced to an assault charge.
Sutton, 29, spent the first six seasons of his career with the Steelers before agreeing to a three-year contract with the Lions last spring.
Sutton had 65 tackles and an interception with the Michigan club, which won the National Association North Division title before losing to the 49ers of San Francisco during the National championship game.
The Steelers have until now been looking for depth in the tertiary to complement the work of Joey Porter Jr., who shone in his rookie season last year.
