Pittsburgh Penguins | Jeff Petry and Jason Zucker in the infirmary

(Pittsburgh) The Pittsburgh Penguins will try to continue their momentum without the help of defenseman Jeff Petry and forward Jason Zucker.

The team placed Petry on the long-term injured list with an upper body injury. Head coach Mike Sullivan said Wednesday he expects Petry to be out for a long time.

Petry, who was acquired from the Montreal Canadiens this summer, was injured in the Penguins’ 3-1 win over the Buffalo Sabers on Saturday. He must be absent for a minimum of 10 games.

For his part, Zucker briefly retired to the locker room after blocking a second-period shot in the Penguins’ 2-1 win over the Dallas Stars on Monday. He returned to action in the third period, but Sullivan said his condition will be reassessed weekly.

Zucker, 30, has six goals and 14 assists in 27 games this season.

The Penguins are 13-2-2 in their last 17 outings. They will face the Florida Panthers on Thursday night.
