We have long believed that the Eunice storm would deprive us of this Lille-Metz, Friday February 18 for the 25th day of Ligue 1. The most teasing will say that, even maintained, the meeting has in fact never started. To call this match “disappointing” is indeed a great understatement, as Dogues and Grenats outdid themselves in mediocrity (0-0). We would almost laugh if the next meeting of Losc was not an eighth final of the Champions League, Tuesday at Chelsea. Because as it stands, not sure that the Lille performance gave Thomas Tuchel a cold sweat.

The opportunity was however good, for the players of Jocelyn Gourvennec, to seize 5th place while waiting for the other meetings of this 25th day. But by dint of disappointing, we will end up believing that this Losc does not want a European qualification. As if that wasn’t enough, the Northerners lost Angel Gomes injured in the first half and Edon Zhegrova sent off in injury time. The worst in this slump is that the eleven aligned against Metz should, with one or two adjustments, be renewed at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday.

Faced with Lille’s apathy, it was not necessary to count on the Garnets to raise the level. Chaining three passes in a row seemed like the end of the world for Messins with a very defensive approach. The slight better – could it be worse? – in the second period did not allow them to create anything other than half chances. Difficult in these conditions to aspire to better, but Metz (18th) obtains at least one point which should count in the race for maintenance.
