The ice dance duo of Piper Gilles and Paul Poirier will lead the Canadian delegation to the International Skating Union (ISU) World Figure Skating Championships, Skate Canada announced Sunday.
The competition will take place March 20-26 in Saitama, Japan.
Quebecer Laurence Fournier Beaudry and her partner Nikolaj Soerensen will also participate in the event, in the same discipline as Gilles and Poirier.
Keegan Messing, who was crowned Canadian Champion on Saturday, will represent Canada on the men’s side. The identity of another skater in this category will be announced at a later date.
On the women’s side, national champion Madeline Schizas will be the only one to represent Canada at the event.
For pair skating, Canada will be represented by Brooke McIntosh and Benjamin Mimar, Lia Pereira and Trennt Michaud, as well as Deanna Stellato-Dudek and Maxime Deschamps.
