Pinel Institute | The agreement in principle accepted by 88%

(Montreal) The union members of the National Institute of Forensic Psychiatry Philippe-Pinel, in Montreal, approved by 88% the agreement in principle reached with their employer concerning the renewal of their collective agreement.

The Union of Professionals of the Government of Quebec (SPGQ), which represents around a hundred members at the Philippe-Pinel Institute, confirmed Saturday in a press release that the agreement in principle has been ratified.

The new employment contract, lasting five years, will end on March 31, 2028.

Under it, workers will be entitled to salary increases of 17.4% over five years. Added to this is an inflation protection clause, which can go up to 1% for the last three years of the collective agreement if inflation exceeds a certain threshold.

Even though it was not part of the common front — made up of members of the CSN, the CSQ, the APTS and the FTQ — the SPGQ was subject to the same salary offer from the employer side.

The agreement also provides for a 10% salary increase for psychologists, as well as improvements to vacations, group insurance and workplace bonuses.

At the Philippe-Pinel Institute, the SPGQ represents criminologists, psychologists, social workers, psychoeducators and several other professional staff members.
