The Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM) indicates that no one was injured during the disaster.

It was a call to the 911 emergency telephone exchange that alerted the authorities around 1:45 a.m. A car was then on fire in the parking lot of a building.

Upon their arrival at the scene, on boulevard Gouin Ouest near the intersection of boulevard Saint-Jean, firefighters from the Montreal Fire Department (SSIM) found that the flames had attacked a second automobile and that ‘they were threatening a house nearby. Its occupants were evacuated.

The flames were extinguished, but both cars suffered extensive damage. The house was spared.

Given the suspicious nature of the fire, the investigation was entrusted to the SPVM arson squad. At the end of the night, the police still reported no arrests.
