Pierrefonds-Roxboro | Used car store burnt down

(Montreal) A used car sales establishment was damaged by an arson attack at the start of the night on Monday in northwestern Montreal.

The flames also ravaged four cars, but no injuries were reported in the middle of the night.

The Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM) reports that a telephone call made around 1 a.m. to the 911 emergency center reported that the fire had just started at the establishment located on Gouin Boulevard West, near the intersection of the 2e Avenue, in the Roxboro sector of the Borough of Pierrefonds-Roxboro.

Firefighters from the Montreal Fire Department (SIM) had already begun to fight the fire when the first police arrived on the scene.

Upon inspecting the rubble afterwards, firefighters found a can of gasoline. In addition, witnesses said they saw a person throw an incendiary object into the establishment before fleeing on foot.

Under the circumstances, the investigation was entrusted to the SPVM arson squad.

The establishment was surrounded by a security perimeter. Investigators were expected to arrive later in the day.
