Pierrefonds: a vehicle in poor condition following a fire

Residents of Pierrefonds contacted local police authorities around 4 a.m. Sunday morning after seeing a burnt-out vehicle in the yard of a residence in the West Island of Montreal borough.

Following multiple calls to 9-1-1, citizens mentioned having heard an explosion before seeing a vehicle on fire in the parking lot of a residence located on rue Antoine-Faucon, near rue Sheinfield.

When officers from the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM) arrived on the scene, firefighters were already present and were trying to control the flames.


A can of gasoline was found near a car.

“[L’explosion] woke me up. I called 9-1-1 right away, because I could see the flames well, ”said owner Linda Simard, in an interview with TVA Nouvelles.

“I have a little chihuahua, and he is traumatized! I tell myself that it’s a fairly quiet area, a cul-de-sac, the neighbors, we get along well; there is no problem.” That’s why she says she’s been “enough stress[ée]of this event.


The woman also said that she could not go back to sleep after hearing the fire break out.

As indicated by Véronique Dubuc, media relations officer for the SPVM, there were no injuries in the event. No suspects have been arrested either.


The damage to the vehicle is significant.

Given the suspicious nature of this fire, the investigation was transferred to the SPVM.

The investigators of the arson module are responsible for the file and will try to establish the causes and the circumstances of this event.
