Pierre Richard more frank than ever, what he really thinks of Johnny Depp with whom he collaborated in Maïwenn’s last film

A return that makes people talk. Three years since Johnny Depp had not walked the red carpet and had gone to the Cannes Film Festival. If some of his fans are happy with this return, some detractors see his arrival with a bad eye. In particular after his trial in 2022 against his ex-wife, Amber Heard, who accused him of domestic violence.

In fact, some denounce the presence of the 59-year-old actor on the Croisette. Ditto for that of the director of the film in which he holds the main role (Jeanne du Barry: editor’s note): Maïwenn le Besco. The latter is the subject of a complaint filed by Edwy Plenel. The boss of Mediapart indeed accuses the ex of Luc Besson of having attacked him in a Parisian establishment in February 2023. If the presence of the duo divides, what do their collaborators and those who rubbed shoulders with them on the set of “Jeanne du Barry” ?

Pierre Richard and Johnny Depp, a beautiful friendship?

Pierre Richard, who is part of the project, was present at the opening of the Cannes Film Festival for the screening of Maïwenn’s film this Tuesday, May 16. The 88-year-old French actor gave an interview to The voice of the North in which he revealed everything he thought of Johnny Depp. “Johnny Depp is very accessible. I got on well with him for two reasons. I made him laugh, from the second day. And I brought him good wine” he had fun at first.

Subsequently, Gérard Depardieu’s sidekick in the film “The goat” take it seriously: “Otherwise, I watched him with the make-up artist, the cinematographer, the second assistant director… Everyone can look him in the eye”. Remarks that he reiterated and fleshed out when a journalist from France 2 questioned him as he climbed the stairs.

This one asking Pierre Richard if he and Johnny Depp were “friends” since the filming of “Jeanne du Barry”. “Don’t exaggerate either… But still!”, finally retorted the French comedian. If the complicity was in order on the set, it would seem that a beautiful friendship could also have been born.
