True to his style, Pierre Perret, giant of French-speaking song, returns with a new album. From the top of his 65-year career and on the verge of his 89 years, he still manages to surprise.

Always outspoken, and the same mischievous eye. The years go by, but Pierre Perret has kept his playfulness, his trademark. At almost 89 years old, the singer signs his 29th album, always funny and incisive. His songs have accompanied the French for 65 years. His repertoire has become family, despite his naughty register.

The author, composer and performer has carefully preserved the manuscripts of his hits, since his first album. On an old notebook, the names and lyrics of Zizi, one of the first songs to talk openly about sex. “In my mind, I was saying okay, it’s a song for the stage, I’ll try it, maybe it’ll amuse people. (…) And in the end, it was a terrible tidal wave “he confides.

A committed artist

The singer is also a committed artist. A trunk contains no less than 500 songs, in which he often expressed his anger. “There are lots of songs that we have never heard or heard very little on the radio. I did one about abortion at the time, which is called She is waiting for her little one, and which been censored everywhere”.

Right to abortion, famine or racism, Pierre Perret has written on many topics. Since his debut in 1957, he has never stopped singing his revolts. They echo today more than ever, like his commitment to ecology. As early as 1997, he wrote a title devoted to the cause, green with anger. In his new album, he signs new political songs, sweet words, and solid convictions.
