A fitting title. The song Paris ransacked by Pierre Perret appeared on YouTube on Sunday March 19 and compiled more than a million views on Tuesday morning. This title, which denounces the dirtiness of the capital and the inaction of the town hall, arose while the streets of Paris are strewn with garbage cans, garbage, sometimes set on fire, during the evenings of demonstrations against the pension reform.

Here are some excerpts from this title, which is controversial for its sometimes insulting remarks, sung to an accordion tune: Poor Paris, which has become so cracra / We know very well who did that to you / It’s the skulls of smart sparrows / Who eat seeds at the town hall“, “In Paris, disgusting Paris / only the rats are happy / they know that vegans here are not stupid / only feed them organic”, “the droppings that flower the sidewalks / decorate this great dump”.

The 88-year-old singer returned to this unexpected success. “What amuses me is that I hear everything: ‘Oh, he’s turning into an old jerk!’ To the old man, that’s for sure. To the idiot, I don’t know. If it’s turning to the old idiot, well, here it is: I’m an old idiot”he reacted to BFMTV.

This title, however, was not written in response to recent events, but four years ago. He even postponed the recording of his song after the municipal elections, so as not to target Anne Hidalgo, advances the news channel continuously.
