Pierre Palmade’s ex talks about his “broken wrists” and his “schizophrenia”

Véronique Sanson brings her show “Hasta Luego!” through the roads of France, in 2024. And the 74-year-old singer has come a long way. She, who had throat cancer in 2018, confides in Gala, and assures that her “sores of existence” never managed to keep her away from the stage for very long.

“Broken wrists, broken hands, toothache”

To Nikos Aliagas, she confided: “I’ve played with broken wrists, broken hands, toothaches, everything delicious you can imagine.”. And to add: “the day I broke my kneecap, I had a good time, but I never canceled a concert for this type of health problem”.

And for good reason, explains the woman who was married to the comedian Pierre Palmade for 6 years: the stage is the only place where she has never been in pain… Véronique Sanson reveals in fact: “as soon as I go on stage, I don’t feel anything anymore. No more pain. The stage is always a miracle.”

“A kind of schizophrenia”

The interpreter of “My reverence” also considers “It’s a phenomenon that I never understood and that I associate with a kind of schizophrenia”. She also insists, to her interviewer: “I beg you to believe me: before I set foot on the stage, I shake so much, you can’t imagine the state I’m in, and everything disappears suddenly. I’m so happy to sing in front of an audience that did me the honor of traveling for me… It’s so gratifying!”

A reward worthy of the fear that Véronique Sanson experiences before each concert. The singing star admits that she still has stage fright, “even with songs that I have been singing for fifty years” she says. The idol always doubts herself, and feels “a real lack of confidence”, of “fear of not being up to standard, of doing badly, of forgetting the words”. All the more reason to go and shout all our love to him, from the audience.
