He wrote the most beautiful pages in the history of Lyon rugby. After seven seasons of service, Pierre Mignoni will leave the LOU at the end of the season, the club announced in a press release published on Thursday February 3. The rumor has been circulating for some time in the world of rugby, Pierre Mignoni having notably refused an offer of extension, the information is now official.
For his first experience as a manager, Pierre Mignoni landed in the capital of Gaul in 2015 when the club was playing in Pro D2. Very quickly, the former scrum-half made LOU a winning machine, winning the Pro D2 title in 2016 then lifting the club to the semi-finals of the Top 14 twice, in 2018 and 2019. Never before seen for a club which, until then, had struggled to find its place in the France of rugby.
In its press release, the club did not fail to praise its development under the orders of the Toulonnais, evoking in particular its role “primordial in the sporting structuring of the club”.

“The common adventure with Pierre will have been beautiful and there will remain great memories of his time at LOU Rugby, assured Yann Roubert, the president of the LOU. The club will remain immensely grateful for having contributed so much to its progress during its seven years in Lyon and its legacy will be a solid base to continue to grow and seek the greatest successes. Before wishing him good luck for the rest of his career, there is still an end to the season full of challenges and ambitions to conclude this wonderful story in the most beautiful way..”
For now, the players of President Yann Roubert are currently in third place in the French championship and qualified for the knockout stages of the Champions Cup. And if the most beautiful way to leave a mark in the club was not to leave on a title?
