“Money is the fun, but it is not the most important thing in life. Me, my dream is to win a Stanley Cup. »

These words, it is Pierre-Luc Dubois, met in the locker room of the Center of Excellence Sports Rousseau on the occasion of the Kevin Raphaël Classic, on August 6, who pronounces them.
Barely two weeks ago, Pierre-Luc Dubois met the media for the first time after signing his one-year contract with the Winnipeg Jets. He then returned to the many conjectures, false or true, which had circulated about him in recent weeks. Recall that in mid-July, his agent, Pat Brisson, publicly mentioned Dubois’ interest in Montreal. But things have taken on “disproportionate” importance, argued the main interested party at a press conference.
Two weeks later, things calmed down. After all, the Quebecer signed a contract. He is no longer a free agent. “I’m a Jets player, there’s really nothing more to write about,” he says.
“We are preparing for the next season. It calmed down a bit. I think it does a lot of people good, including me. »
As for his future, things haven’t changed in a week, of course. Dubois reiterates that he is “in no hurry in life”. Next year, he will have “another decision” to make. Will he stay in Winnipeg? Will he sign a long-term contract? So many questions to which he has not yet answered. Everything in its time.
“If the opportunity is there, it’s there,” he said. Otherwise, it will be another year. I know the first thing a lot of players want is a long-term contract. For me, it’s really about feeling in the right place at the right time. »
The dangers of a short-term contract always remain of experiencing a less successful season and seeing its value drop the following season. But Dubois isn’t worried about that.
“Every season I try to have the best season possible. If I have a bad season and I make more money, I won’t be happier. »
