Love will last at least three years, maybe more. Alpine announced on Thursday June 27 the extension of its French driver Pierre Gasly for the next season “and beyond”. “The extension of Pierre’s contract with the team is very satisfactory. He is a driver who has great experience in Formula 1 and who continues to show enormous potential on the track,” wrote Bruno Famin, the boss of the French team.

Pierre Gasly “has committed to a long-term contract with the team”, according to the published press release. “The deal, an extension of his current contract, will take Pierre through the 2025 season and beyond.” Arriving in 2023 after having remained in the RedBull fold for a long time, the Norman has reached the podium twice with Alpine: in the sprint race of the Belgian Grand Prix, but especially in the Netherlands last year.

“I feel very comfortable in this great team. I have officially been here for more than 18 months and I have always intended to build a long-term project with the team. Although the season has been difficult on the track so far, I remain faithful to the project”commented the main interested party, whose results have recently improved after a dark start to the season in 2024.

His teammate Esteban Ocon also bore the brunt of Alpine’s setbacks, which announced the end of their collaboration at the end of the current season at the beginning of June. “We have big ambitions for this season and we will work tirelessly to achieve them. We will take our time to choose Pierre’s future teammate and we are excited about the options available to us,” added Bruno Famin. There silly season summer, between transfer rumors and announcements of extensions, has not finished shaking up the paddock.
