A vast majority of the population was shocked this week to find that a Canadian government agency had described Christmas as discriminatory. I’m part of. The National Assembly even felt the need to vote on a motion to defend Christmas.

We are right to be shocked from the point of view of values. This holiday is part of our heritage, well beyond religion, and no one should feel guilty about celebrating it. Above all, the way to celebrate Christmas in 2023 excludes no one. Regardless of religion, all citizens are invited to celebrate, but not obligated to do so.
We may also be shocked as taxpayers. What do we do with our taxes? How many civil servants earning $100,000 or more per year worked on this futile document? For how many weeks? months?

A powerful ideology
