A 30-year-old man was shot and wounded late Tuesday evening in the Côte-des-Neiges-Notre-Dame-de-Grâce borough in Montreal.
The police were alerted around 11:40 p.m. by calls to 911 about a man who had been shot inside an apartment on Queen-Mary Road, near Décarie Boulevard.
The police rushed to the scene located the victim hit in the lower body by at least one firearm projectile that the emergency services transported to a hospital.
No suspects were arrested, while police carried out checks inside the residential building, said a spokesperson for the Montreal Police Service.
The scene was protected by a security perimeter to allow investigators and forensic identification technicians to analyze it, said SPVM agent Jean-Pierre Brabant.
The SPVM has opened an investigation to try to better understand the exact causes and circumstances surrounding this event, which occurred in the context of an outbreak of armed violence.
