The ABC News television channel presented the first detonations that were heard near Kiev, Ukrainian capital, just before sunrise. This happened just after the broadcast of the speech in which President Vladimir Putin announced the launch of his military operation, around 6 a.m. (10 p.m. Quebec time).
Melitopol air base in southeastern Ukraine is now reported to be on fire due to the Russian military, US news outlet CNN confirms.
