A restaurant in the Ahuntsic-Cartierville borough in Montreal was the victim of a suspicious fire on Sunday morning.

Firefighters from the Montreal Fire Department were contacted around 6:30 a.m. to extinguish the fire that started in the establishment on Boulevard Henri-Bourassa, near Rue de Lille. The blaze was quickly extinguished.

There were no injuries, but the damage was considerable, said the spokesperson for the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM), Véronique Comtois.

An incendiary object was found on the spot, but no suspect was arrested. The event file was transferred to the arson section of the SPVM.
