An inanimate body was found in the river at the end of the morning, near Sainte-Croix. Everything suggests that it is that of the hunter who disappeared a few hours earlier.
Since 7 am, Sunday morning, the Sûreté du Québec (SQ) has been trying to find a hunter who had capsized from a boat on the river, between Portneuf and Sainte-Croix.
Three hunters were in the boat at the time of the incident. It was a man who accompanied them from the shore who contacted the authorities. Two of the individuals who ended up in the water were recovered by firefighters, but a third drifted away.
“The 40-year-old was wearing his life jacket, so there is always hope that he was able to make it back to shore. But the water is very cold, ”said Sergeant Hélène Nepton of the SQ in the morning.

However, a body was found near the rue du Bateau, in Sainte-Croix, around 11:30 am. Although verifications remain to be done, everything suggests that it is that of the hunter who was missing, according to Sergeant Louis-Philippe Bibeau.

The provincial police force surveyed the north bank and the south bank of the river, between Donnacona and Sainte-Croix, all morning. Quad riders, police on foot, the SQ helicopter, as well as the Coast Guard were deployed on the ground.
