The heat wave hit Europe where heat records were broken in several countries such as the United Kingdom where everyone was looking for coolness as best they could. Two women have set their sights on a pool where they plunge their heads. In Gironde, it was the fires that made the news with 20,000 hectares devastated by the flames, which left behind a desolate landscape. The image of firefighters securing gas cylinders by throwing them into a swimming pool made an impression.
Across the Atlantic, the World Athletics Championships take place in the United States. The photograph of the Frenchwoman, Alice Finot, who fell in the women’s 3,000m steeplechase is one of the images of the week. Fortunately more fear than harm for the athlete. In Bangladesh, it is the harvest season for water lilies, their pink color dotting a stream remains one of the most beautiful images of the week. Finally, at the zoo in Hanover (Germany), meerkats are having fun with a watermelon.
