The first round of the Presidential takes place on April 10. In the meantime, France Bleu Armorique gives the floor to the candidates or their supporters in Brittany.
This Wednesday, March 30, we receive Kevin Le Tétour activist of the New Anticapitalist Party in Rennes and member of the party leadership of candidate Philippe Poutou.
What is the priority of your candidate Philippe Poutou in his emergency anti-capitalist program?
Kevin Le Tetour: “So, it’s difficult to give a flagship measure. Obviously, there are multiple emergencies. Just before, I just wanted to react to the evacuation [des migrants] of the Poterie gymnasium, in Rennes. There are many of our activists who were present, and it is a scandal, it is true that the sanitary conditions in the gymnasium were very difficult. But it is up to the State to accommodate asylum seekers and we, in our flagship measures, we also have this mmeasure of freedom of movement and settlement for anyone who wants to come to France, whatever the reasons. On the other key measures, we call for an anti-capitalist break, because for us, it is too late to be moderate and we must initiate a real break, especially in the face of high prices of life. It is the question of the distribution of work to eliminate unemployment with a four-day week passing to 32 hours and an increase in wages of 400 euros to arrive at 1800 minimum “.
“Besides, Emmanuel Macron was not mistaken when he gave 200 euros for the inflation bonus, it was at 1,800 euros that he set the bar. So, we consider that it is well under 1,800 euros that it is very difficult to live, especially in very large cities. Wages must be indexed to prices”.
How are these purchasing power measures financed?
Kevin Le Tetour: “So we consider that there is money: there are 200 billion of tax evasion in France that must be recovered, the five richest French people hold as much as 40% of the French population. You can put the richest five in a car and they own as much as 40%. There is also the 240 billion increase in income and profits during the two years of the pandemic, when most French men and women saw themselves losing their jobs.
The NPA then proposes the requisition of large companies and the merger of banks…
Kevin Le Tetour: “Yes the expropriation of key sectors, ie energy, water, transport which are vital needs for the population. It is not normal that it is subject to the rules of the market. So expropriation and socialization, so that it comes back to the common good of sectors basically so that people can live. These indecent and immeasurable riches must be better shared”.
A reaction now to Ma France 2022, the great consultation carried out by France Bleu with France 3 before this presidential election. There are twelve priorities that emerge. And the most popular is a request for integrity from elected officials, end of their benefits and even a clean criminal record to be elected in France. What is the position of your candidate Philippe Poutou on this subject?
Kevin Le Tetour: “It’s not surprising, because it is also the reflection and the expression of a fed up. There is a social fed up, but also a democratic fed up in this society. Besides, the presidential campaign we are in at the moment also reflects this anti-democratic side, because there is no debate between all the candidates. Philippe Poutou had his 500 sponsorships, but he is not invited to the major media like the TF1 debate, where they chose 8 out of the 12 candidates. There are 4 who have had their sponsorships, but who are not invited. There are also candidates who come out of nowhere, from the far right, who are already funded at 1 million. And so, in fact, this democratic fed up also echoes our proposals.
“We are to leave this Fifth Republic more monarchical than democratic, to abolish the presidential functions and the Senate. There is also the problem of integral proportionality, the prohibition of the accumulation of mandates, but also of the dismissal of elected officials, that is to say when an elected official does not do what he was elected for, it is necessary to think about a dismissal of elected. And on the question of the salary of elected officials, it’s the same. The median salary must apply. There is no reason that the people who are there to represent us should be paid at completely indecent levels. I remember that Philippe Poutou is the only worker in the presidential campaign. He’s someone who looks a bit like everyone else. Who was made redundant a few months ago by Ford, a company that makes profits and who is elected in Bordeaux and who, like most of our elected officials, donates part of his elected allowances to the collective, because he is elected not in his name, but to defend ideas”.
