Double blow for Philippe Diallo. Appointed interim president of the French Football Federation since the withdrawal and resignation of Noël Le Graët, Friday February 28, he was elected in Lisbon, Wednesday April 5, new member for four years of the executive committee of UEFA, the government of European football, which will still be led for the next four years by Alexander Ceferin, the only candidate for his own succession and therefore re-elected at the head of the European body.

Eight mandates (seven of 4 years and one of 2 years) of the executive committee of the European body were put into play, including that of Florence Hardouin, ex-director general of the FFF in the process of dismissal, however reserved for a woman. Traditionally, the five great nations of the old continent (England, Germany, Italy, Spain and France) sit on the Comex, which made its election more obvious, but not entirely assured either.

A weighty argument

Former boss of the Union of Professional Football Clubs (UCPF) for almost thirty years, Philippe Diallo, who will celebrate his 60th birthday in August, joined the French Federation during the last re-election in 2021. Then, he took the succession of Brigitte Henriques, when she left for the presidency of the French National Olympic and Sports Committee (CNOSF), as vice-president of the FFF, before becoming president when Noël Le Graët resigned. Philippe Diallo will be extended (or not) at the head of the French Football Federation at the next federal assembly on June 10. This election to the UEFA Comex could give him additional credit.
