Philippe Cantin will host the show “Québec Now” on 98.5 FM

Philippe Cantin, who has a 35-year career in journalism, will be entrusted with hosting the show Quebec now, on the airwaves of 98.5 FM, starting next fall. He will therefore take over from journalist Patrick Lagacé, who will succeed Paul Arcand at the helm of the radio channel’s morning show.

The announcement was made at the end of the day on Wednesday, when Mr. Cantin came to give his column on Mr. Lagacé’s current show.

Philippe Cantin said he accepted the position almost instantly when it was offered to him a few months ago. “I was really happy. I became very emotional. I am in fact as I speak to you. For me, it’s an extraordinary chance to work in a fantastic environment, with an extraordinary team. »

In addition to being a columnist at 98.5 FM for nearly five years, Mr. Cantin was previously a member of the information department of The Press for more than 10 years. However, he returned to the daily’s sports section in January 2011.

Throughout the show Quebec now, Philippe Cantin will form a trio with Catherine Beauchamp, for the cultural component, as well as Pierre-Yves McSween. The latter has until now been providing economic and financial chronicles on the channel.
