Philippe Candeloro announces the ouster of Nelson Monfort from France Télévisions: “It will be complicated”

He is a two-time Olympic medalist, he was flag bearer at the Nagano Olympics, in Japan, in 1998, and he is Parisian. And yet, Philippe Candeloro will be “non-existent” during the Paris Olympics in 2024, as he explains this November 20, 2023 to Jordan de Luxe. On France Télévisions, his friend Nelson Monfort will comment on athletics and swimming for the last time, but Philippe Candeloro, no.

“He is kicked out of France Télévisions”

And if he planned to leave Paris, during the competition, the latter still obtained an extension for his colleague, who is about to be thanked by his management. Indeed, he explains: “Nelson reaches an age where in a public service, after 70 years, they no longer have the right to be an employee. And added: “I intervened to tell them to keep him until Paris 2024 (…) It will be complicated to replace Nelson.”. After this meeting, the two men will be performing in a show, as he announced this Monday!

Philippe Candeloro reveals: “I put aside my one man show a little, to go on a show at the theater with Nelson. It’s going to be called ‘It’s skating in Tokyo’, it’s for next season, as soon as he finishes the Paris 2024 Olympics, tack, he’s kicked out of France Télévisions, and behind us we’re on the hunt for 2024 -2025. It’s a bit confidential, the writing is already done, we’ll start rehearsals in a theatrical situation tomorrow.”.

What is their play about?

And the pitch will seduce more than one: “We are quite close to our television characters, we go to Tokyo to comment on a world skating championship and there we discover a corpse in my bathroom, when Nelson knocks at 7 a.m., to go visit the city. Afterwards there are a whole bunch of misunderstandings with Nelson’s uptight side, and me with my very relaxed side.”
