It is one of the tragedies of the beginning of the year in the world of sport. While the Dakar Rally had not yet started, Philippe Boutron was the victim of a terrible and very suspicious accident while he was driving an assistance vehicle. Accompanied by five other people, luckily all safe, the 61-year-old businessman was mainly injured in the legs. Very seriously injured, he was repatriated from Jeddah in Saudi Arabia where he was as far as the Percy military hospital, in Clamart (Hauts-de-Seine). Arrived in serious condition, the one who is currently president of the US Orléans football club was placed in an artificial coma to prevent him from suffering too much.
Invited Thursday morning on RMC, the son of Philippe Boutron recalled that his father is “seriously injured”, but he also informed that he is “out of a coma”. Good news when we know that the driver who took part in his ninth Dakar Rally is likely to have both legs amputated. Far from being defeatist, Benoit, his son, has been at his father’s bedside since Monday. “The luck that we have, with my relatives, is that we can visit him daily, he is seriously injured in both legs and we will know more in ten days. We could see him, we can exchange, for the moment it remains limited “, he says.
It takes time to recover but things are progressing little by little
If it indicates that ““it takes time to recover but things are progressing little by little”, Benoit Boutron hopes at the same time that justice will be done in this case. As a reminder, an investigation will be opened for “attempted assassinations in connection with a terrorist enterprise” by the national anti-terrorism prosecution. “The fear we have is that things are not moving fast enough and we really want there to be officials who are appointed”, he now hopes.
