Philadelphia shooting leaves at least four dead, two injured

The United States experienced, Monday, July 3, its 341st mass shooting since the beginning of the year, according to figures from the organization Gun Violence Archive. In Philadelphia (Pennsylvania), a man killed four people and injured two others, shortly before 9 p.m. Wearing a bulletproof vest, armed with a semi-automatic rifle and a handgun, he fired into the streets of a neighborhood in this east coast town.

During a press conference, the city police spokesman did not detail the profile of the victims but, according to the American channel NBC, the two injured are two young boys, aged 2 and 13. They were hospitalized and their condition is stable. Other media are reporting that a suspect has been arrested in a neighborhood of the city.

The Democratic mayor of Philadelphia said to himself “horrified” by this shooting before addressing his “prayers to the victims”. “This devastating violence must stop”wrote Jim Kenney in a tweet. The last shooting in the country only dates back to last weekend: an 18-year-old woman and a 20-year-old man were killed in Baltimore, Maryland, at a block party. The shootings also injured 28 people in this city on the east coast of the United States.
