(Philadelphia) The Philadelphia Flyers have signed forward Travis Konecny to an eight-year, $70 million contract that will begin in the 2025-26 season, general manager Daniel Brière announced Thursday.
“Travis Konecny is the heart of our team and we are thrilled that he has agreed to a long-term contract,” Briere said in a statement. “Travis has become an important leader on our team and truly embodies what it means to be a Flyers player. His work ethic, combined with his tenacity and talent, makes him a role model for what we are trying to build here.”
“There’s such a bright and exciting future with this team and I can’t wait to be a part of it for the next nine years and see what we accomplish,” added Konecny, who has one year left on his current $5.5 million contract.
Konecny, 27, scored 33 goals and had 35 assists in 76 games last season with the Flyers. He led his team in goals, points, shorthanded goals (6) and game-winning goals (5).
In his career, he has 174 goals and 226 assists in 564 regular-season games, all with the Flyers. Konecny also has one goal and seven assists in 22 playoff games in the Bettman League. Konecny was selected in the first round, 24e overall by the Flyers in the 2015 NHL Entry Draft.
