Fabrice Camaioni, pharmacist and vice-president of the Federation of Pharmaceutical Unions of France, speaks on Friday June 7 on France Inter sa “anger” while he notices a “breakup” stock of Ventolin “fairly deep” on “the entire national territory”. Ventolin is an inhaled medication that helps relieve the bronchial tubes of people suffering from asthma.

“This week, we noticed that the wholesale distributors no longer had ventolin stocks when we placed our orders”he explains. “We ask for 20 or 30 boxes and we only receive two, and this is true throughout the national territory”he clarified.

Fabrice Camaioni notes “a sort of quota” while the risk of allergies due to pollen is very high at the moment in France. “No more stocks or very few stocks”, he specifies. But he also notes “already a break for the two other alternatives to Ventolin, two drugs which have the same molecule” including salbutamol.

“We think the break is quite deep”he worries. “It makes us quite angry. We can’t get used to this situation which is actually time-consuming for pharmacists” And “distressing for patients”. Fabrice Camaioni wonders how in 2024 in France, we can face this kind of problem. “I refuse to hear that we have to get used to living with breakups, it’s simply not possible”he said.
