Norway’s Viktor Hovland clocked an impeccable third round of nine birdies to climb to No. 1 in the World Wide Technology Championship standings on Saturday in Riviera Maya, Mexico.

Hovland’s 62 (-9) card allows him to post a cumulative of 194 (-19), after 54 holes. Hovland will start the final round with a two-stroke priority over American Talor Gooch. The latter cut off eight strikes at par 71 on his third outing on the course at El Camaleon Golf Club, with six birdies and an eagle.
Leader throughout the first two days of activity, Matthew Wolff was unable to find his rhythm during the third round, which saw him slip 16 positions in the standings after a 74 (+3) run. .
Three of the five Canadians vying for this tournament had secured their spots for the weekend’s rounds the day before, and it’s Nick Taylor who is still the best of the three, thanks to a tie in 17th place with a cumulative of 203 (-10). Adam Hadwin subtracted two strokes at par of 71 and shares 49th place while Adam Svensson is 70th and last among the remaining golfers.
