(Montreal) Canadian fashion mogul Peter Nygard is waiving his right to a bail hearing in Quebec, where he faces two sex-related charges.

Defense attorney Laurence Juillet told the Court of Quebec that the defendant chose to waive his right to a bail hearing because he is currently being held in a Toronto jail and facing charges. a detention order in Manitoba.
Peter Nygard, who participated in the short court hearing by telephone, faces a charge of sexual assault and a charge of forcible confinement in Quebec.
Prosecutor Jérôme Laflamme said the Crown would be ready to set a trial date during the businessman’s next appearance in court in Montreal, scheduled for September 8.
Peter Nygard faces six counts of sexual assault and three counts of forcible confinement in Toronto in connection with alleged incidents dating back to the late 1980s and mid-2000s.
US authorities have requested his extradition so he can face charges of sex trafficking and racketeering in that country.
