Pete Rose brushes aside sexual misconduct allegations: ‘That was 50 years ago, baby’

The former professional baseball player, now 81, declined to comment on allegations that he had sex with an underage girl decades earlier.

The man was in Philadelphia on Sunday to celebrate the 1980 world champions with his former teammates, his first appearance since being banned from the game in 1989.

When questioned by the Philadelphia InquirerPete Rose has brushed off allegations that he had sex with a teenage girl years ago.

“I’m not here to talk about that, sorry. That was 55 years ago, baby,” the former baseball player said.

Then speaking to the Associated Press, Pete Rose added. “Who cares what happened 50 years ago? You weren’t even born! So you shouldn’t talk about it, since you weren’t born. If you don’t know anything about it, don’t talk about it,” he exclaimed.

A woman, nicknamed Jane Doe, has claimed she had sex with Pete Rose in 1973 when she was just 13 or 14 years old. At the time, he was married and the father of two children. His lawyer also clarified that the allegations have never been verified.

Recall that in 2017, Pete Rose himself admitted to having had sex with a 16-year-old girl, the age of consent in the state of Ohio. He also assured that the sexual relationship did not go beyond the borders of Ohio, contrary to what the alleged victim alleges.
